Now you can discover one of the easiest methods to capture enough details to make a satisfactory sketch of a rose.
Remember that we are talking about sketching here. There's a slight difference between drawing and sketching. A drawing takes a good amount of time, for dedication to detail, and care. A sketch is meant to quickly gain enough information to depict a subject.
You can create a realistic rose in just minutes, you only need to give the perception of a rose.
Keep in mind that most roses have five petals in each layer. This tiny bit of knowledge will go a long way towards helping you establish your rose outline easily. It simplifies the rose.
Here are the simple steps. Try out this method for sketching roses and experience a feeling of triumph with the simplicity of it all.

-
1. You can create the intricate center of the rose by drawing a figure similar to the @ (at) symbol.
2. Surround this symbol with two or three crescent moon shapes. Make sure the moon shapes are hugging the center and not facing outwards.
3. Next, place a couple of single lined curves haphazardly around that. Make them about a quarter of a circle in length. Space out these curves, don't draw one long continuous line. Draw them to go over the spaces between the moon shapes. It's up to you how many of these curves you use. Try just 2 layers to begin with.
4. Finally, draw the five petal shapes in two or three layers around your existing sketch. Draw each petal across the spaces between the quarter circle lines.

-
If the center looks too bare, place a couple more short strokes in there, to represent the huddle of petals.
If you want to elaborate on the sketch, you can use small strokes to indicate shadows under the petals.
It only requires a bit of fiddling to arrive at a good rose sketch. Don't obsess over drawing every petal. The idea of sketching is to suggest the overall shape.
Draw lightly at first, then darken the lines as you become more confident with the foundation of your drawing. Your light lines are your guidelines.

Source : http://www.allaboutdrawings.com Beyond safety, though, there are other considerations. Outdoor lighting can completely transform the look of your home after dark. Outdoor lighting has a reputation for being expensive to install and maintain, but it does not have to be. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your budget to install outdoor lighting that makes a statement and turns your home into a nighttime showpiece in your neighborhood.

Evaluate your resources and power sources. If you keep your lighting close to the house, you can save on installing new power outlets and additional wiring. If you do need to install wiring and outlets, there are do-it-yourself kits that you can install on your own. If you opt to install your own and you're not a licensed, experienced electrician, though, do have your work inspected by one before using it.

On the same note, check with your local code authorities before adding any outdoor power sources to be sure that you adhere to regulations. Nothing turns a cheap job into a huge expense faster than fines for violating local ordinances.

Consider solar powered lights for walkways and paths. Solar powered stake lights are an extremely budget conscious option for path and safety lighting. You can buy them in sets of four or six at your local home and garden store for as little as $30. Installation is as simple as driving a stake into the ground. There are no wires, and no drain on your electric bill. Most are powered with a battery backup for those days when there's not enough sun to power the lights.

Consider safety first. Decoration is wonderful, but your first concern should be safety. Use motion sensor lighting to illuminate dark areas on your property without having lights glaring all night long. Do not skimp here – your safety is vital. Do, however, check with your insurance company. You may get a break on the premiums for making safety improvements.

The second safety issue is illuminating pathways and steps to avoid falls and injuries. Path and stair lighting can be very decorative and attractive. One inexpensive option for stairway lighting are strips that fit along the edges of the risers. The light is indirect and shines down on each step so you and your visitors can see where you're putting your feet.

Less is definitely more when it comes to outdoor lighting. Avoid garish, overbright lights. An additional benefit to using fewer lights is a savings of wattage, and, in turn, expenses; both up front and in long term maintenance.

Backlighting and low lights can add drama to a bland landscape. Choose a feature to highlight and use a single light behind it to cast it in silhouette. If you shine lights through a tree, the overall effect can be truly dramatic.

Don't be afraid to be tacky. Twinkling fairy lights may be overdone, but a single strand of tiny white Christmas lights twining a potted patio plant or edging the patio deck can be surprisingly effective.

Turn to unusual sources. For instance, instead of using overhead or spotlighting for your patio or deck, rely on battery or solar operated table lanterns on your patio tables. Light your outdoor space just as you would your indoor space, taking into account ambient light and task lighting. Do not light what doesn't need lighting.

Driveway lighting serves two purposes. It should illuminate paths and walkways so that your guests and family can make their way safely from vehicle to house, and it should outline your driveway enough that drivers can navigate it safely. Consider walkway lights along the edges of the driveway, especially if the driveway is edged with stones, bushes or raised flowerbeds.

Providing good outdoor lighting can offer added security as well as extend your outside parties or other activities well into the night. Adding outdoor flood lighting will also enhance the beauty of your home and increase its value. There is a wide selection of decorative outdoor lighting from which to choose. Before beginning your project, consider these valuable tips.

Step1Contact your local municipality on code requirements and adhere to these closely.

Step2Call the electric company to arrange for them to mark any areas with underground wiring prior to your dig.

Step3Purchase lighting fixtures that are comprised of approved properties and made for outdoor usage. Look for the Underwriter's Laboratory seal.

Step4Obtain a ground fault interrupter to stop the current should the hot wire become compromised in any way.

Step5Disconnect the power source to prevent electrical shock.

Step6Ground the cable and lighting fixtures.

Step7Dig your trench at least 2 feet deep to protect your cable. If there is above ground exposure use a conduit to prevent weather damage. Local codes may require the entire line be protected. Consider key placements for your fixtures and direct them away from the home. Prevent glare by using lower watt bulbs. Test your angles to make sure you are not flooding your neighbors yard or the street with your flood lights.

You can create many other different effects without much investment if you take the time to plan your lighting blueprint as carefully as you do your landscaping. Find interesting features in your landscape and use light to accent them at night. Do keep in mind that light pollution has become a serious consideration when lighting at night. Keep the lights low, and angle them so that they do not disturb neighbors or local wildlife.

Desk Lamps and Table Lamps

Lamps of different kinds used for different lighting needs. One can’t find a home without a lamp that decorates the interior. Desk and table lamps may at first seem to be the same thing but there is most definitely a slight difference in these two items as regards their functionality. There are two very nice things about table lamps these days. The first is that when walking into a room, one of the first things people tend to notice is the source of light. When you turn on a table lamp the eye immediately goes towards it because that’ s where the brightness is coming from. The second nice thing about table lamps is that their cost to consumers is always lowering, not going up Table lamps might be seen as the more decorative type of lamp, perhaps used for some armchair reading but typically just to add more light to a room. In the case of tiffany style table lamps, it is easy to see how these types of lamps can also be used as a decorative piece by day.

Desk lamps on the other hand have a more definite function as they are used to provide light for tasks (and therefore are used for task lighting). Ideally used for work such as computer work, studying, typing etc. Desk lamps and study lamps are synonymous as these can either be placed on a desk, or can be fitted or connected to a shelf or other piece of the furniture nearby. Usually these are fixed using a clasp or clamp.

Clamp-on task lights occupy very little of the precious desk space but tend to only really fit properly/adjust properly in a limited number of places. Many desk lamps come with an adjustable or bendable neck which allows the light source to be twisted around and aimed at an angle that most suits the person who is working.

Also, desk lamps tend to be more functional looking and are just one color, made from plastic/metal and quite plain. But they tend to be quite cleverly engineered to allow them to be bent into many different positions and angles easily and usually with one hand and a light touch and they also need to have quite a heavy base and be sturdy so that they do not tip over easily.

Table lamps and lighting are available in a huge range of styles, designs and sizes. It is not uncommon for the purely decorative table lamps to have intricately adorned lamp bases carved out of expensive materials such as marble. By virtue of being decorative, table lamps lend themselves to much personal design taste because they serve as ornamental objects as well.

Table lamps also provide a nice source of light with which to highlight objects that are placed near the lampshade and effectively bask in the light of the lamp.

One thing to look out for when purchasing a table lamp is that there should be no glare emanating from the lamp and this is best checked when you are seated, given that most table lamps are placed on a table beside an armchair. Pay particular attention to the lamp height and also to the accompanying lampshade - as a fairly deep shade is needed to avoid glare.

It is possible to coordinate the lampshade of your table lamps with the fabric and furnishings of your room and there are companies that make shades professionally if you want the lamp shade fabric to closely match the rest of the decor in the room.

Task or desk lighting on the other hand will tend to be more functional looking and plain. Nothing fancy or decorative about that.

Commonly, most types of modern task lights tend to be tungsten-halogen lights that come with a dimmer. Following is about lighting fairs - East China Fair (ECF) is the largest regional trade fair in China with the most traders, great variety of exhibits and the most onsite deals. With an annul 5-day session from March 1st in Shanghai, ECF is co-sponsored by nine provinces and cities, namely Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong Province and two cities of Nanjing and Ningbo.

East China Fair, initiated in 1991 and thereafter 17 sessions have been held successfully. The 17th East China Fair had 18,557 business visitors from 117 countries and regions as well as 100, 000 of their Chinese counterparts. The trade volume amounted to about 3.55 billion US dollars.

Art museum lighting represents a delicate balance between visibility and safe lighting levels. Lighting levels must directly correspond to the type of art being exhibited in orderto properly showcase fine art. Natural light is generally not recommended as a source of art museum lighting. It contains harmful infrared heat and ultraviolet light waves that will damage a wide variety of paint types and canvases. Natural lightis also very difficult to control.

A much better solution lies with using fixtures specifically designed for art museum picture lighting exhibitions. Almost allsuch fixture types offer a measure of protection against harmful light wave lengths and the ability to adjust luminance levels appropriate to interior architecture, exhibit requirements, and artistic genre at hand.

The following examines a few of the main benefits each type orfine art museum lighting fixture offers. Keep in mind thatlarger museums typically approach lighting design on aroom-by-room basis and use more than one of these fixture typesto create a custom, in-house system of specialized illumination.

Accent Lights

Most accent lights in art museums contain halogen lamps that have been specifically designed for the purposes of art lighting. Ultraviolet light has to be stripped from the light beam in order to make the light safe for the art. Also, somesort of adjustment mechanism must be in place in order to regulate levels of illumination. This is because each genre ofart normally communicates its own unique set of values andcontains its own unique messages, and light is critical tovisually communicating these points of uniqueness.

Some accent lights resemble over the picture lights, although the base often attaches to the wall above the frame, and thearms are longer and more flexible than generic equivalents. This allows the lamp to be positioned at just the right distance from the picture in order to make the light fit the frame.

Accent lighting in art galleries and museums is also done with filtered spotlights that reside on or near the ceiling. These fixtures are often low voltage and create a less intenseluminance that is highly effective for special effects or ambient lighting. This type of accent lighting is particularly effective in art museums featuring sculpture and three-dimensional abstract art. By supplementing primary lighting with ambient effects, art museum curators can avoid the"flattening" effect that too much direct light can have on a human figure or abstract piece.

Track Lights

Track lights hang suspended from rails that run parallel to the wall. Although they are visually obtrusive in the sense that they are clearly visible to the public, many art museums illuminate a variety of works with track lighting systems.

The greatest advantage that track lighting installations offeris the ability to match the number of lighting fixtures to theexact number of works of art. Because the fixtures can move along the rail, each track light can be aimed precisely at its chosen object for pinpoint lighting effect. We often see track lighting in art museums show casing photography exhibits. Because such exhibits normally feature a number of works in a series, track lights allow for each photograph to be placed in its own individual light.

Recessed Lights

Recessed fixtures are a popular source of art museum lighting. One of the greatest advantages they offer is concealment. Unliketrack lights, which hang suspended from the ceiling, recessedlighting fixtures reside on or within the ceiling itself. Assuch, they are difficult for the casual viewer to detect, andthey can be used to light both art and sculpture from virtuallyany angle. Recessed picture lighting in art museums commonly utilizes halogen lamps that produce a very bright, white light withsuperb color rendering capabilities. This light must be filteredto ensure it is free from ultraviolet radiation, and the use ofdimmer switches to control lighting levels is generally recommended both as an aesthetic factor and a power saving feature.

Recessed lights are often used as accent lighting over sculptureand other three dimensional art forms, and they are also usedextensively in lighting large paintings.

Art Projectors

Art projectors represent the most high-end of art museum lighting fixtures. Like recessed lights, many recessed lighting projectors such as the Phantom Contour assume a very unobtrusive position near the ceiling. Almost all projectors have advancedlens adjustment mechanisms, sophisticated light filters thatstrip the beam of harmful wavelengths, and built in dimmer controls that allow lighting levels to be adjusted appropriately to genre, style, and individual characteristics of a work of art.

The Phantom Contour Projector offers a number of advantages overcompeting projector models. It is smaller and therefore easierto conceal in more eclectic, formal art museums. Lighting controls on the Contour Projector are exceptionally userfriendly and do not require a technician to adjust. A number ofmodels are available specific to interior architecture, including retrofit models such as the RM Series Projector thatdo not require messy patching or painting.

Although Projectors such as the Phantom Contour cannot be usedto provide all off the light in an art museum, they can beutilized to create magical lighting effects around keynote paintings, abstract pieces, and classical sculptures. The lightbeam itself that emanates from a Contour Projector is completely invisible from side angles. This creates a magical, lighted fromwithin effect when the beam strikes the artwork, adding athree-dimensional effect to illumination and creating acomplimentary aesthetic to the work itself.

Because art projectors can fit the light to the precise dimensions of a painting, and because they produce the safestform of UV and Infrared-free lighting, art museums frequently rely upon them to illuminate the most important and rare worksof art on display.

Source : http://www.phantomlighting.com/

INTERIOR DESIGN

Interior design is the process of shaping the experience of interior space, through the manipulation of spatial volume as well as surface treatment. Not to be confused with interior decoration, interior design draws on aspects of environmental psychology, architecture, and product design in addition to traditional decoration. An interior designer is a person who is considered a professional in the field of interior design or one who designs interiors as part of their job. Interior design is a creative practice that analyzes programmatic information, establishes a conceptual direction, refines the design direction, and produces graphic communication and construction documents. The distinction between interior design and 'interior decoration' is one relevant in the United States but not common elsewhere. As the United States definition does not exist in most of the world, non-Americans would be confused by the distinction.

To see more : http://www.interiordesign-web.com

Source : wikipedia (nov 2007)

PLANNING AN HERBACEOUS PERENNIAL FLOWER BED

There are a number of reasons why perennial bedding plants, as opposed to annual ones, are used in garden designs. Perennials by growing beyond a single season, are thought to demand less care and maintenance than annuals that have to be replaced every few months or so .In dry climate gardens especially, annual flowers consume significantly more water than any other group of plants, requiring at least 1000 liters per square meter a year, in comparison to some perennial species, which can often grow on a third as much water.
Yet many home gardeners end up being disappointed with their flowerbeds. One reason for this is that in many cases, too many short-lived perennials are planted in the border. read more

Garden Styles: What's Your Style?

Your personal preferences are what will set your garden apart and define the space as your own. Choosing what best reflects your sense of style can seem overwhelming, but it is also the most fun and creative part of the design process.

But what you ultimately decide on will depend not just on your personal taste but also your climate and what works well with the architectural style of your house. In addition, it will depend on how much time you can, and want to, devote to garden care. garden homeIf you're an avid gardener, then time spent keeping up the space is not a chore but a hobby. If you're looking for good looks but not a lot of upkeep, then you'll want to choose a design, materials, and plants that don't require much upkeep.

Just as with interior design, there are any number of styles from which to choose, from classic to cottage to contemporary. Some choices seem obvious: a succulent-inspired landscape surrounding a desert adobe, a hedge-lined formal entry leading up to a Tudor-style home, or a garden filled with ornamental grasses to set off a modern structure. But don't feel that your garden style choices are necessarily limited by your home's style. With the right selection of plants, you can create a style that shows off your home's architecture while incorporating some of your favorite garden themes. You can also use different styles for different parts of your garden (use repeating elements, whether it's hardscape material, plants, or decorative elements, to tie the areas together).

source :www.hometips.com

ADVERTISEMENT ON BEDROOM FURNITURE SITE

You can put your advertisement on this site (http://www.bedroomfurnituretoo.com/) only US$ 100/ Month. Most manufactured doors are made by a handful of large companies; Premdor and Jeld-Wen, for example, own several smaller or regional door makers that each construct a particular type of door. These companies, in turn, ship to local distributors and dealers

When replacing an existing door, measure the door's actual width, thickness (normally 1 3/4inches) and height (normally 6 feet, 8 inches).

If you're buying a complete entry system and intend to replace the jamb as well as the door, measure the thickness of the existing jamb, from the inside of the exterior moulding to the inside of the interior moulding (this equals the wall's thickness). Stand inside, and note which side the knob is on. If the knob is on the right, you have a "right-hand" door; if it's on the left, you have a 'left-hand' door.

When buying a wood door, look for high-quality woods, durable finishes, and careful detailing. As a rule, the more intricate the carvings and mouldings, and the thicker and wider the stiles and rails, the better the door. Nord's high-end models have 1 3/8-inch panels; lesser-priced doors have 9/16-inch and 3/4-inch panels. If you're considering an entry system, be sure all the components are from the same manufacturer; many systems are assembled by distributors, and their parts may not be designed to go together. Be sure all weather stripping seals effectively and the threshold interlocks with the door's bottom edge.If the door system includes a window, look for dual, low-E glazing and be aware that, if the window is leaded, real lead (or brass) caming is more expensive than faux caming. Keep both security and safety in mind. Some glass, such as "Pease-Shield(tm)" by Pease Industries, is highly resistant to breakage.High-quality steel and fiberglass doors have a thermal break—an insulated separation—that prevents outside cold and heat from being conducted through the door's skin and frame (with a fiberglass door, this break may simply be the wood frame). This is a must for cold climates; otherwise, frost may form on the door's inside surface.Even if it costs you a little more, a high-quality door is sure to pay you back with smooth operation, energy efficiency, low maintenance requirements, and great looks for years to come

SOURCE : www.hometips.com

Source : www.interiordesign-web.com

Canvas printing: add a dash of creativity by Chris Broad

Getting Picasso or Van Gogh art works is not possible for everyone. In office, if one wants to inspire people or just add an artistic appeal in the workplace then, this is a good option. This form of art really captures eyes. One can place the best photos of the product and services on canvas. One can post it on right places where people can see. This form of marketing tool gives people the impression that the company has style and class. One can use this tool of canvas printing to announce events and promotional gimmicks during trade shows. This way, people can remember what one is trying to convey to them. This unique and stylish form of ad can be displayed in many ways. Take advantage of such to move ahead the competition and thrive in the industry.

Canvas printing requires hard work and dedication. People print various types of images on it. Color combination, design and picture play a major role in printing. Different canvas depicts different symbols and meanings. An attractive piece appeals all. The message of some canvases is very difficult to understand. Only a creative mind can understand its various symbols and meanings. A beautiful canvas has the capability to make a person stop and stare at it at least for a second. Canvas printing is a tough job and various companies offer the service of canvas printing. Those companies create stunning canvas prints by printing your photos on canvas. Sometime, people want their own photo to get framed and sometime they canvass the photo of their family members. A reputed canvas printer can turn slides, negatives and even children's drawings into stunning prints. The rates of the service vary from company to company. Some reputed company even offers door to door delivery. To get the idea of various printing companies, one can search on the internet. A beautiful canvas is a masterpiece and people decorate their house and office with those pictures. These sketches are brilliantly designed by either professionals or possibly as well as artists. People are specially trained and employed for designing the cars. These sketches are made with charcoal, pencil, pen or paints.

Car sketches have been in use for a very long period of time. All the big manufacturing companies of cars like Ford Mercedes, Maruti, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, BMW and others have their own special designers who make unique car sketches for their new models. These Car sketches were earlier made primarily with the help of pen or pencil and colouring them in with pencil crayons to see what different colours would make them look like.

These days, technology has evolved with the spread of computers worldwide, Adobe Photoshop is most commonly used for making excellent car sketches. With the help of this program the time spent for making the sketches are significantly cut down. In a better light as well, the final result is immediately displayed in front of the painter. The creator gets to see the accurate dimensions and calculations which is also easier to develop with the help of these programs.

However, even with these great developments in technology many painters prefer to make the initial rough sketch with their own personal pencils or pens. Usually thousands of car sketches are made thrown out and then re made before the final selection is made by the company. Thereafter the necessary changes are made to make the product more efficient and the final image is decided.

Most of the car sketches are kept as absolute secrets because of the fact that sometimes the final production and official launch of the car may not be until many years later. After the car sketches are finalized the color and upholstery of the car is carefully chosen by designers. Sometimes if they are good enough, car designs are displayed in museums.

If you need more information on Sketches Of Cars To Color, please visit our blog: http://sketchesofgrey.com/

Using Accessories To Complete Your Plus Size Wardrobe

Wearing the right accessories that match your attire is essential to making the entrance you desire. It is possible to make style and elegance a statement by the outfit of your plus size gown with the right accessories. Accessories are imperative, but shouldn't be overdone. Too many accessories can ruin your look - simplicity and sophistication is a good rule of thumb. Less is more!

Since pearls never go out of style and are classic, gorgeous, and timeless, consider wearing a large pearl necklace with a strapless or off-the-shoulder dress. Keep in mind, wearing a pearl necklace and pearl earrings together isn't truly necessary. If you are looking at something different, a great look to consider is wearing gold, silver, or diamond earrings. Ruby earrings may even match your dress and offset the pearls around your neck.

Not every woman loves to wear bracelets. However, if you are a person that desires to wrap your wrists in glamour, then you will be shopping for them. There are bangle bracelets that are beautiful, and add a little something special when wearing a strapless or a sleeveless dress. For an elegant look, avoid noisy bracelets, and remember that it is better to choose only one wrist to wear the bracelets on, keeping a more simple high class look. A really great look is to pair a diamond or rhinestone bracelet with each other. Mixing silver or gold bracelets is fun, and gives an elegant look.

Sometimes, the only accessory you need with an evening gown is a pair of earrings. Chandelier earrings, shoulder dusters, and other earrings that have a big, bold design could be all the jewelry you need. If you have a hair style that is shoulder length or shorter, drop earrings are a fabulous choice. Don't think you can't get away with it if you have longer hair, though. Pin your hair into a chignon, or simply pull it back off your shoulders. Your earrings will stand out, and you will be the star of the evening.

Above all, you have to remember the most vital accessory: your shoes. Could you imagine walking (or trying to walk) into a ballroom without them? Even if it was possible to go without a pair of shoes, why would you want to? They add the ideal finishing touch to your complete evening outfit. When you're looking for a dazzling after-dark look, try metallic-colored heels: a shining gold or bronze color will really enhance the effect of your gown. Metallic colors look best in summer, when they hint at the romance of the beach and the warm, glowing sun. Try wearing metallic-tinted heels with a simple dress in a traditional color like blue or black--or, if you're feeling daring, use your metallic heels to spice up a quiet pastel frock.

Plus Size Evening Gowns at http://plus-size.discountsonline.com

How to Buy Wallpaper on a Budget

If you're buying wallpaper on a budget, the best way to save money is to properly measure and plan. Since a good quality wallpaper can be fairly expensive, you don't want to purchase and use more than you will truly need. This is even more important if your style of wall decor must be meticulously matched at specific points on a pattern (see point 8 below). Keep reading to learn how to buy wallpaper for your next project without wasting money.

1. Start by measuring the room that you plan to cover. Draw amap of the room and include each wall's height, width and length. Try your best to draw the map to scale so the sketch isrelatively proportionate to the actual structure of the roomitself.

2. On your map, sketch in any openings like windows and doors that won't be wallpapered. Write in the measurements for all these.

3. Then measure the wall spaces between openings. For example, measure the width of the wall from the corner to the edge of the window and then from the window to the closet door.

4. Once you're ready, use a simple online calculator to figure out how many rolls you need to buy. Lowe's has a simple wallpaper calculator on their web site that you can use to makeyour calculations. Alternately, you can take your measurements into the store and the clerk will do the calculations for you.

5. Before you buy, make sure that you're purchasing the rightnumber of rolls. Wallpaper is typically priced and measured insingle rolls, but often sold or manufactured in double or triplerolls.

6. Also check the width of the product. Typically, Europeanwallpaper is 20.5" wide and includes approximately 56 squarefeet of it on every roll. In contrast, American double rolls are27" wide and have about 70 square feet of paper.

7. When estimating the price, always ask the clerk if the priceis listed as a single roll or double roll. You don't want tomake a selection, then have to take it back once you find out itcosts twice as much as you anticipated. For example, theretailer may list theirs at $15 per single roll, but inactuality the double roll will cost you $30 at the cashregister.

8. Ask the store clerk if the product you're planning topurchase is "drop match" or "straight match." Typically, a dropmatch has to be matched up at specific points, meaning therewill be more leftover, unused pieces at the end of your project.Straight match, on the other hand, can be aligned with at anypoint with another piece of the same wallpaper.

9. Buy from a store with a liberal return policy that will letyou return any unused or unopened rolls. If you can, purchaseone or two extra rolls to make sure you have enough for yourproject. Afterward, you can return anything you don't use.

10. Check the run or dye lot number on every roll. You want this number to match, otherwise the coloring can be slightly, but notice ably different. Don't open any rolls until you've checked them all.

About the author:For information on practical interior design recommendations, please visit http://www.interior-creative-design.com

ALL ABOUT INTERIOR DOORS

Your interior doors are very important, because they will dramatically improve the look and feel of your home. Strippable wallpaper can be removed by lifting a corner and pulling. Unstrippable wallpaper should be sanded, wet and scraped off with a putty knife. If your walls are painted, sand rough spots and spackle wholes. If your walls are paneled, concrete block, or plaster in poor condition, use a wallpaper liner before sizing. If your walls are new drywall or plaster first apply a primer or sealer before sizing. Use a sizer such as Shieldz (R) on all walls to be wallpapered to get a smooth surface. NOTE: Paint ceiling and/or woodwork before preparing for wallpaper. Remove light and outlet switch plates.

MEASURING & CUTTING

Measure the maximum distance from the baseboard to the ceiling and add 4". Check the wallpaper pattern position by holding the wallpaper up and finding the best place for the pattern to break. Mark the top and bottom points on the roll of wallpaper. Cut the first strip with the additional 2" to top mark & 2" to bottom mark on your pasting table. Then cut your second strip after matching the pattern to the first strip. A plumb line will allow you to hang the first strip of wallpaper perfectly straight. Chose a hidden corner of the room to begin.

PASTING

For prepasted wallpaper use a tray of lukewarm water. There will be instructions enclosed with your wallpaper. For unpasted wallpaper user a roller to apply an even coat of wallpaper adhesive and make sure to get the edges. Book-fold the wallpaper before hanging.

HANGING

Unfold the top section of the first strip of wallpaper and place it on the wall, lining up the edge with the plumb line and leaving the 2" overhang. Smooth out with a smoothing brush working from the center outwards. The air pockets can be pushed out from the center, however, wrinkles can not (therefore re-hang strip). Then do the same for the bottom section. Sponge off excess paste with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Trim excess wallpaper by using a putty knife as a guide and use a single edge razor knife. Butt the edge of subsequent wallpaper strips without overlapping. Use a steam roller to press all seams and remove any excess paste. Continue cutting and hanging strips of wallpaper until you reach the last one, which will overlap the first one. Overlap and double cut this last wallpaper strip. Outside corners can be wrapped with a full strip of wallpaper, whereas inside corners can not. Do not skip difficult areas such as windows and doors. Work straight around the room. Leave a 2" overlap on obstacles and cut a diagonal line at the corners. Trim as described above.

Source : discountdecorator.com

Tips on Kitchen Remodeling Designs

If you are tired of your old kitchen design and really need to make a change, you are not alone. A lot of homeowners are remodeling their kitchen and bathroom for both better appearance and functionality. And the good news is that most kitchen and bathroom remodel jobs actually increase the value and worth of your home.

Maybe you have looked at lots of kitchen remodeling designs and just can't decide what will work best for you. It's easy to see beautiful pictures of a kitchen layout in a book or magazine and think how great they look. But actually putting them in your home is another matter altogether.

So the first thing to do is to decide exactly what it is about your present kitchen that you really like, and what about it do you really not like? For instance, do you have enough counter space? How about storage capacity? Is your food preparation area large enough? Is everything you need convenient, or do you have to keep going back and forth across the kitchen to complete each task?

Once you know for sure what the positives and the negatives about your present kitchen is, you can begin to decide on the changes that need to take place. A logical next step is to actually draw out your ideal kitchen design instead. Of course, you may not be able to actually implement your ideal kitchen design, but it can help you learn about what changes would please you most and you can begin to adopt some of those ideas into your present kitchen.

If more counter space is needed, where can you fit it in? If more storage space is required, can you add another pantry, or perhaps expand or deepen the one you already have? If you find yourself traveling too far to accomplish tasks in the kitchen, can you add an island in the center to make things more handy? If you have more than enough pots and pans, can you hang some of them on the wall?

Other considerations include making things more convenient in you kitchen. For instance, can you arrange the microwave to be very close to the food preparation area? This will help you quickly and easily heat and defrost food as you go. Likewise, the dishwasher should logically be close to the cabinet where your glasses are stored. The refrigerator is usually the most used appliance in the room, so why not try to centralize it in your new kitchen design?

While you are at it, give some thought to kitchen lighting as well. Very often counter tops are under illuminated at night. So why not arrange for some under cabinet recessed lighting to help you see what you're working on?

Once you have the general kitchen design on paper you can begin to make cost estimates regarding the work that will need to be done to bring that new kitchen to life. And when you have the basic layout all set, you can then began thinking about appearance and decoration including colors, cabinet styles, countertops, and all the other fun decisions that will help make your new kitchen design a smash hit.

And any long-range forecast we make today is just as likely to be colored by our own perspective in time. It can be the perfect finishing touch to a landscape or the centerpiece of a yard. Backyard ponds are increasing in popularity, as a variety of inexpensive kits and products hit the market. For years, backyards ponds were a luxury that only the very wealthy could afford. Today, it seems, any homeowner willing to put in a little effort can add a pond to his or her property.

Unfortunately, in the mad rush to integrate ponds into home landscaping, many do-it-yourselfers make mistakes. There are a number of important factors you should consider before and during the construction of a backyard pond. Let’s look at some guidelines for building your backyard pond the smart way. Keeping these points in mind will allow one to avoid several common pitfalls associated with do-it-yourself pond construction.

First, integrate the pond with your existing landscape. In many cases, amateur landscapers simply find a convenient open area and get right down to work. The finished product? Well, it looks just like a backyard--with a pond in it. The pond just doesn’t seem to fit. It seems “forced” or somehow incongruous with overall look and feel of the property. In these situations, the presence of a pond can actually detract from the beauty of a yard and can serve to diminish curb appeal and resale value.

If you are considering adding a pond to your hard, take the time to select a design and a location that flatter your overall landscaping. Don’t simply “plop” it down somewhere in hopes that it will look great. In many cases, it won’t. If you don’t feel as though you can trust your own design and aesthetic judgment on the matter, seek the opinion of others to guide the location and shape of your new pond.

Second, think about the elements. If you place your pond in complete shade, you might have a problem providing adequate warmth to maintain a fish population. If you place your pond near a tree, you may find yourself constantly working to keep leaves out of the water. The environment surrounding the pond will have a large impact on both its appearance and overall well being. Think about your property and the elements before starting work on your backyard pond.

Third, size matters. You need to make sure your pond will be sized correctly to meet your goals. Those with limited space may wish for a pond with a large fish population, only to find that the space available won’t support enough finned friends to satisfy them. Others may want to experiment with a variety of aquatic plants. These also have specific space requirements that you should consider. If your pond is too shallow or too small, your range of options will be limited.

Another example of considering size carefully has to deal with the depth of the pond. This is particularly true in colder climates with ponds containing fish. If the pond is too shallow, it can freeze completely. It should come as no surprise that a total freeze is likely to cut down on the number of fish in a hurry! Proper pond depth is essential in many situations to maintain a healthy fish population.

Adding a backyard pond can be a great way to make outdoor living more attractive and enjoyable. If done correctly, it can add a certain luster to a property and can even serve to create a substantial net increase in the property’s value. However, a poorly conceived backyard pond can be incredibly frustrating.

Today, almost anyone can add a pond to the backyard. However, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about doing that. If you are considering adding a pond to your property, be aware of the factors you must keep in mind in order to do the job right!

HOUSE STYLE

Modern style

NISSAN PIVO 2 CONCEPT

By far the most provocative and advanced of the four concepts shown here by Nissan, the Pivo 2 is a more globular version of the Pivo shown here two years ago. In design terms, the biggest difference is how the rounded form language from Pivo 1 is now extended to the end views, while the three-seater cabin is developed to include a number of new technical features to enhance its appeal to the 'girl about town' customer that Nissan is targeting.

First impressions are that the chassis 'pillow base' of the Pivo 2 has been visually reduced so that the 10-inch wheels sit as separate globules outside the main rotating cabin and each can now rotate 90 degrees. In sideways 'crab parking' mode the four wheels and grey inner wheelarches turn together inside their blue outer wheel spheres, however, this further emphasizes the essentially excessive use of road space of the novel chassis layout. There are also semantic issues with this design: the connecting joints of the tiny wheels to the cabin leave narrow gaps in the overall silhouette of the car and the hinges themselves appear thin and visually weak, whereas one might expect to see a strong section at these critical points. On the positive side, the whole vehicle shifts with an exciting animal-like movement, tilting and heaving around as the various wheel and cabin arrangements are engaged in sequence.

The drive-by-wire steering and pedals allow the complete front end to open as on the old BMW Isetta bubblecars of the 1950's. A further innovation is the incorporation of a 'Robotic Agent' - an animated monkey-like character that sits atop the IP and rotates to show emoticons to the outside world.

At the end of the day there are two basic parts to this showcar: the multi-directional cabin idea and the globular form language, and the two sometimes act against each other. It feels like Nissan needs a Pivo 3 version to tie the whole concept together and really make it 'sing'

From : cardesignnews.com

HAIR CARE · COMMON HAIR MISTAKES

1. NOT TRIMMING YOUR HAIR EVERY 6 WEEKS.
The tip of each hair is weaker then the root, making it more vulnerable to breakage and split ends. Having the tips trimmed every 6 weeks helps to maintain the condition of your hair and its style.

2. WASHING HAIR ON A DAILY BASIS.
Regularly washing your hair strips it of essential oils and can leave it dry and brittle. If you have naturally oily hair, use a mild, pH-balanced shampoo. When washing your hair don't rub the scalp vigorously as this will stimulate the oil glands to produce more sebum.

3. RUBBING YOUR HAIR VIGOROUSLY WITH A TOWEL.
The action of rubbing you hair with a towel actually roughens the hair cuticle, which can lead to frizzy, flyaway hair.

4. LEAVING SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER IN YOUR HAIR.
Shampoo and conditioner that is not thoroughly rinsed out of the hair is the worst culprit for bad hair days. It counteracts styling products, leaves your hair looking dull, limp and unmanageable. Try to rinse your hair for an extra couple of minutes after shampooing and conditioning.

5. BLOW-DRYING HAIR UNTIL COMPLETELY DRY.
Overheating your hair makes it susceptible to breakage and strips it of shine. A better idea is to blow-dry hair until its 80% dry and then let it air dry, naturally. Alternatively use a leave-in conditioner or styling product that protects your hair from heat styling. Also, hold the hair dryer at least 30 centimetres away from your hair.

6. NOT USING PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED FOR YOUR HAIR TYPE.
Many people misdiagnose their hair type and subsequently purchase the wrong hair products to style hair. Using the right product will help to recreate that special salon style.

7. NOT USING A CLARIFYING SHAMPOO ONCE A WEEK.
Everyday pollutants cling to hair and leave a thin coat of grime that dulls and weighs down the hair. Using a clarifying shampoo once a week will give hair a residue free fresh start.

8. THINKING THE LATEST FASHION HAIR CUT WILL SUIT YOU.
Let's face it; we're not all beautiful models. Not all of us can get away with the latest, trendiest, most fashionable hair cut. May be that fashion cut can give you a worst look.
It all depends on individual, their texture, their lifestyle, their quality of hair.
Drastic haircuts take a long time to grow out, so be sure you want to take the risk before sitting in the char and letting your hairdresser go to work. Be specific and take lots of photographs to ensure you are getting the look you want.

BUNGALOW

A bungalow (Gujarati: બંગલો baṅglo, Hindi: बंगला baṅglā) is a type of single-story house. The word derives from the Gujarati word baṅglo, which in turn came from Hindi baṅglā. It means "Bengali", used elliptically for a "house in the Bengal style". Such houses were traditionally small, only one story, thatched and had a wide veranda. Bungalows today are a type of house that is usually single story or one and a half stories, and can be quite large.

In India, the term bungalow refers to any single-family unit (i.e., a house), as opposed to an apartment building, which is the norm for Indian middle class city living. The Indian usage is different from the North American usage insofar as a bungalow can be a quite large, multi-storied building which houses a single extended family. In India, owning a bungalow is a highly significant status symbol.

Advantages

Bungalows are very convenient for the homeowner in that all living areas are on a single storey and there are no stairs between living areas. A bungalow can be more easily converted to a wheelchair-accessible home. Neighborhoods of only bungalows offer more privacy than similar neighborhoods with two story houses.

With bungalows, strategically planted trees and shrubs are usually sufficient to block the view of neighbors. With two story houses, the extra height requires much taller trees to accomplish the same and it may not be practical to place such tall trees close to the house to obscure the view from the second floor of the next door neighbor. On the other hand even closely spaced bungalows make for quite low density neighborhoods, contributing to urban sprawl.

Source : Wikipedia

PAINTING

Painting Your House: Information, Research and Price Estimates

Painting your house is one of the best ways to add value to your home. This is true even if you are putting on the same color as before. Keep in mind, using paint of a good quality can make a surface more abrasion-resistant, easier to clean and capable of washing without the risk of removing the paint.

Interior Painting

If you are working indoors, you must attend to the holes in walls and ceilings before slapping on a coat of paint. These areas should be repaired with a vinyl spackling compound and they will usually require more than one coat due to shrinkage. If you have larger damaged areas to repair then you will most likely need to use wallboard or plaster patch. You can make wallboard repairs with Fiberglas joint tape and drywall joint compound. Plaster repairs can be successfully made with plaster patching product. If you need to blend in a textured finish after you make a repair, try using a spray texture in an aerosol can.

Exterior Painting
For exterior finishes, you will probably be working with old flaking paint on the siding, trim, gutters and downspouts. This needs to be removed before you put a fresh coat of paint on. The most effective approach would be to begin with a power washing with water to remove the majority of the damage and then use a paint scraper to remove the remaining flaking, chipped or blistered paint. Once that is done, mix together a solution of 50/50 bleach and water to remove mold and mildew.

Paint Selection
Your next step is to select the right paint and applicators for the job. This step is essential to an attractive and long-lasting result. As a rule of thumb, note that the more costly the paint is the better quality it is. Basically this means is that a costly paint will most likely get the job done in one-coat, be abrasion-resistant and remain good looking for a longer period of time. It is definitely worth paying the extra money for. Below are a few tips on what type of paint should be used for applications.

*Oil-base semi-gloss enamel should be used for surfaces that will be subject to abundant moisture, such as basements, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens. Although new advances in latex paint are making latex just as durable in wet spaces.
*A High-quality 100-percent-acrylic latex flat wall paint should be used on other surfaces.
*Exterior paint should be selected according to the material that you are painting. There are special paints designed to work with different materials.

10 TIPS FOR ARTFULL GROUPING

1.Balance large with small, grouping small frames together to offset the heaviness of a single large piece.

2. The spacing between objects creates rhythm and affects the way each item relates to the next. For an airier effect that lets each piece be appreciated on its own, leave more space between frames; for a dramatic look that highlights the relationship between each piece, leave less. But whichever approach you choose, leave equal spacing between each piece for an overall harmonious look.

3. Experiment with symmetry and repetition, playing with different combinations of both until you find the combination most pleasing to your eye. For example, line up three same-size frames side by side, or place two smaller frames on either side of a large one. (Since tastes vary widely in this area, trust your instincts and just go with what you like best.)

4. Choose a theme, such as nature or travel, to link each piece to the others. Or, group the artwork by color. An eclectic series of photos in multiple sizes, for example, can still look unified if they’re all in black and white.

5. Grouping artwork by era or style is another way to connect the items in a display. Whether the style is Vintage or Abstract, works of differing subjects and artists can coexist beautifully if they represent a consistent era.

6. However, art pieces need not be from the same era to be combined. When mixing old and new, use matching frames in one or two neutral colors. This helps link the different pieces together in a smooth, cohesive way.

7.Odd numbers of frames (3,5,7) create the most pleasing effect in a display. Place central pieces at eye level or slightly above on the wall, then expand your display outward from there.
8. To add interest and character to a collection of similar art pieces, use frames in a variety of colors, textures and shapes. Interspersing the display with mirrors helps break up repetition, and creates the illusion of amplified natural light.
9. Hang several shelves to create a gallery of artwork and objects. Place framed or un-framed artwork on the shelves to lean against the wall, and then add eye-pleasing items (found river rocks, sculptural vases, or vintage children’s toys, for example) that play off the shapes, colors and textures of the artwork.
10. Use wall ledges as a framework for an ever-evolving mix framed artwork. Aside from protecting your walls from misplaced holes, ledges also provide the freedom to layer artwork so that one frame slightly overlaps the other. This technique puts the focus on the display as a whole, rather than on any individual piece.

Source :Art.com
